Biography
"I always ask myself the most fundamental question about the image: what is the piece of paper or canvas that I am holding in my hand? My work explores the processes of space, time and movement that occur in front of, behind and around the physical plane of the image, and the constantly changing system that is in tension between the two. They are spatially expanding impressions of a series of moments, sequences of points of view, which the viewer assembles into a new experience of time and movement of his or her own by his or her physical or mental movement in front of the image or within it. Simultaneity as a whole and the moment as a point of view, as a part, i.e. condensation and expansion, are both present. The works that are created as a result of the movement and change of perspective of the recipient, who takes on the role of the creator, and which embrace this as their essence, are also problematical propositions of space and time. It is through movement that we perceive space and time, and it is in them that space and time are realised and unfolded. The viewer's movement creates transitions and dynamics out of the repetitions in space."
